As a new associate member of the Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters, (GVPAP) my paintings have become a different language to describe a true sense of place. Through the use of bold compositions, value, color, and space, my paintings express what I see live in outdoor settings. The freedom of being able to set up and paint a scene almost anywhere, any time is extremely appealing to me. Imagine the “WOW” factor in witnessing a 7:45 PM full moonrise over the horizon of the west shore of Seneca Lake, or joining a Cape Cod group of painters overlooking a sunset beyond a salt marsh.
I enjoyed a three decade career as an art educator in the Greece Central School District. I retired from teaching in 2017 to become a full-time painter. Since then, I have moved my studio to The Hungerford Building in downtown Rochester, joined the GVPAP, and the "Working with Wax" group of encaustic painters in Rochester, NY. I traveled to the Burren College of Art in Ireland to further explore encaustic wax painting. I am a part time art instructor at The Mill Arts Center and Gallery in Honeoye Falls, and I provide private art lessons in my studio, as my schedule allows.
